thorns of southern africa

During my study abroad in Southern Africa, I spent much of my time observing and documenting the local greenery. The variety of acacia species caught my eye, and with my research during and after my trip I created this traditional folded zine consisting of hand drawn ink illustrations and field notes. I chose 3 species of acacia that caught my eye; the sweet thorn, buffalo thorn, and knob thorn. The intention of this zine is to create an easily accessible field guide which consists of the more interesting local uses and facts about the plant, rather than simple robotic identification descriptions.
